John Byrne
John Byrne graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 1992 after studying there for four years under the tutelage of Gordon Crosskey.
During this time he participated in several master-classes with John Williams and played at the prestigious Principal's Concert held by the College each year. Before commencing his studies at the RNCM, John was lead guitarist with The LA's and had a world-wide hit with "There She Goes". Another interest was composition and he has had several songs published by Chappell Music and has performed on TV and radio many times.
He is a regular performer in Great Britain and wins admiration wherever he plays, recent successes being:
* Castelnuovo Tedesco: Concerto in D Major with the Guernsey Symphony Orchestra.
* Vivaldi Lute Concertos with the Guernsey Baroque Band.
* Many TV and Radio appearances.
* A one hour live broadcast on Classic FM.
* A solo guitar recital at the Euro-Wirral International Guitar Festival of Great Britain.
Although John's main interest is in classical music he has also worked as a session musician in the popular music field and has appeared on many successful records.
John plays at a wide variety of functions and events, and has performed for HRH Princess Anne, Terry Waite and Tony Blair.
He has been based in Guernsey since the summer of 2002 where he teaches at Elizabeth College, Ladies College and Beechwood school as well as a busy schedule of private tuition.
